Een degelijke kaart met aanduidingen van o.a. nationale parken, vliegveld, benzinepomp, dirt-roads en kleine plattegrond van hoofdstad. Als overzichtskaart goed te gebruiken.
We visited Lebanon in October to ground-truth the information we had placed on the artwork. I’m glad we did, because we were able to ‘fine-tune’ some of the road classifications and fix some minor errors of spelling and location. We were also able to discover a wealth of touristic information to add to our 2nd edition. Most importantly, we were able to explore fabulous Beirut and add lots of information to our artwork. As a result, we now have a double-sided map, with Lebanon at one scale filling one side, and an excellent map of Beirut filling the other side. To my knowledge this is the only commercially available map of either Lebanon or Beirut outside of Lebanon. We’ve done our best; now it is up to the market to critique it. Libanezen leven sinds het einde van de burgeroorlog tussen hoop en vrees: hoop op een veilige en betere toekomst, zonder geweld en religieuze verdeeldheid; vrees voor aanslagen, bombardementen of een nieuwe oorlog tussen de verschillende milities, dan wel met de buurlanden Israël of Syrië. Ondanks de aanhoudende gewelddadige gebeurtenissen slaagt de Libanese bevolking er steeds weer in het land op te bouwen en leefbaar te maken. In het centrum van Beiroet wordt volop gebouwd. Lejo Siepe bezocht Libanon verscheidene keren voor zijn boek over de Kruistochten, God wil het! In het spoor van de Kruistochten (Amsterdam, 2005). Sindsdien volgt hij de actuele ontwikkelingen in Libanon op de voet. Hij maakte radioreportages over Libanon voor de Humanistische Omroep en de VPRO.
